What to Expect on Your First Visit
Make your way inside.
If you're driving, park in either the lot nearest the church in a visitor's parking spot or, if you need to be close, an accessible spot. You can also find lots of additional parking in the upper lot across Van Dorn Street and additional accessible parking behind the church. Follow the signs to Worship. Greeters and ushers will guide you and answer your questions. If you need a ride to church, please contact us to check on bus availability.
Come as you are.
You are welcome to dress as you feel comfortable. Whether you are a lifelong United Methodist, or this is your first visit to church, we are glad for you to be part of our community. You will never be singled out or asked to stand in front of the congregation. You may participate in the worship service in any way that is comfortable to you.
Children are welcome.
Families with children are important at Fairlington. We encourage children to participate in the worship services, but understand that it may be hard for little ones. Our family room behind the balcony is soundproof, which allows families to stay together and still participate in worship. Children's bulletins and activity bags are also available during worship.
When is communion?
Communion is celebrated every first Sunday of the month at the 11 AM worship service in the sanctuary. We believe this is God’s table, and God welcomes all. No matter your age or background, you are welcome to partake in the bread and juice as signs of God's love. Click here for more information about the practice of Holy Communion in the United Methodist Church.
